Is It Necessary to Upgrade Your Brakes? I believe upgrading your brakes is a must and should be one of the first modifications you make when increasing the power level of your vehicle. How Do Brakes Work? – Braking System 101 Hydraulic Action Your brake pedal is mechanically connected—usually through a metal rod—to a device called the master cylinder. The master cylinder is a sealed chamber filled with brake fluid, a specialized hydraulic fluid. Brake lines connect the master cylinder to your vehicle's brake calipers, allowing the fluid to travel throughout the braking system. When you press the brake pedal, the metal rod attached to it pushes a piston inside the master cylinder. This piston compresses the brake fluid, building pressure within the braking system. That pressure is transmitted through the brake lines and provides the force needed to operate the vehicle's brakes. What is the point of going fast if you cannot stop? Up until now, brake upgrades for our VAG cars have largely been limited to pads and rotors costing a few hundred dollars, or full big brake kits costing several thousand. The ability to upgrade the stock system with a performance caliper paired with OEM rotors has always been limited—but not anymore. I’ve partnered with a performance specialist called ProdigyWerks. They produce serious big brake kits, as well as a performance upgrade for the stock setup. PROJECT OEM+; New Summer Rims and Tires

ONLY 17 lbs at 17x9  An upcoming in-depth review of the new summer rims and tires will include weights, video, and full specifications. This will be debuting on a brand-new platform that is currently under construction. Today, I purchased the Advanti Racing Storm S1 wheels for my OEM+ project. These wheels are extremely lightweight for a 17x9 ET35 setup. They feature a classic 10-spoke racing design in a hyper silver finish with genuine motorsport pedigree. Advanti Racing has previously partnered with Mercedes-Benz motorsport programs, as well as Red Bull-owned Scuderia Toro Rosso (now Scuderia AlphaTauri). Advanti Racing wheels are flow-formed, much like their sister brands Enkei, OZ Racing, and Konig (all under YHI). Racingline Oil catch can dump (1 winter month)

I went from having to empty the contents of my CTS Turbo oil catch can biweekly to only needing to empty the RacingLine oil catch can monthly. Since it’s winter in Canada, temperatures can swing from +5°C to -15°C in the same day. With these constant temperature changes, it’s safe to say that not everything collected in the catch can is oil blow-by. Because of this, I needed a catch can with a larger containment capacity. The RacingLine unit provides exactly that, along with a high-flow baffle system that continues to function effectively even when it is up to 3/4 full. As you can see, the car hasn’t been significantly modified since my last update, but the OEM+ upgrades have been very rewarding. An OEM+ brake upgrade is in the works, along with a new wheel and tire setup. Stay tuned.  

Oil catch can system UPGRADE.

A bigger catch can means less frequent drainage. The race-inspired baffled system, combined with a built-in surge tank design, allows for spirited driving without the can filling up too quickly. Is the CTS catch can worthwhile? Absolutely. For normal daily driving and relatively stock to Stage 1 cars, I can honestly recommend it. In my case, I’m constantly working on improving my Audi TT Quattro in order to surpass tuned TTS power, which is why I post pictures and videos of my upgrades as they happen. Best.
