Oil catch can system UPGRADE.

Bigger catch can means less frequent drainage, race inspired baffled system with built in surge tank allows for spirited driving without filling up the can too quickly. Is the CTS catch can worthwhile?  Absolutely, for normal daily driving, and relatively stock to stage 1 cars I can honestly recommend it.  In my case, I am constantly working on improving my Audi TT Quattro in order to surpass tuned TTS power, therefore I post pictures and videos of my upgrades as they occur. After the rebuild came the OEM+ tune up.

Months of pampering had finally come to its climax, the break in period had been reached and the TT was finally ready for its tune up. However, this was not going to be your usual filter and plugs ordeal, not in the slightest.  I had spent weeks if not months researching the vulnerable weak points of the EA888.2 engine & had made it my mission to ensure they were rectified.  The first being the always at fault positive crankcase ventilation “PCV” plate that was integrated into the aluminum valve cover. This automotive emissions system is meant to direct the gases that enter the crankcase into the intake stream to be reburned in the combustion chamber.  However, it fails often and without warning allowing oil to make its way into the intake tract causing carbon to build up on the intake valves.   This issue was rectified by installing a CTS Turbo CNC aluminum PCV replacement plate with an oil condenser and catch can. The oil vapor would travel from the CNC p

The proof that an oil catch can system is necessary on direct injection engines can be found in the following pictures. Once the boost is raised the more apparent that need becomes. If you own a high performance Audi don't wait for it to be too late. The prevention of sludge build up is as important as running premium gas.  Pictured below is a stage 1 tuned, Audi TT Quattro EA888.2 engine fitted with a CTS turbo oil catch can system.  Item is currently for sale. Direct injection engines, were gamechangers, with one single drawback. What you should do to maintain its performance.

Why would you need an oil catch can system on a modern direct injection engine? When OEM crankcase ventilation systems fail they allow for excessive amounts of oil vapor to enter into the intake manifold and not only cover the intake valves causing poor valve seating but a host of other problems. Another such problem is the oil vapor making its way into the combustion chamber fouling the plugs and the piston ring seals. Its not the type of result we want from our performance engines via an OEM emissions part. In order to avoid having those problems installing a better engineered emissions system like a dedicated oil catch can will not only maintain or improve performance but also the reliability and longevity of the combustion engine. Therefore it is important to study and analyse which system best meets your needs and which system is best suited for your climate. Some systems will use one or two baffle plates or a bronze micron filter. Be warned, these c
